Day 49

Student Contribution by Ezinne Ugwu

Overview of the Period

Today in class, we went over the social, political and economical events that happened between 1450-1750s. As a class, we discussed some examples of who/what events matched within the three categories. Then within our tables we made bubble maps and compared and wrote down some events that matched with the categories.

I feel I am preparing by going over the DBQ’s and doing a short answer to help with our free responses and essay to get ready for the AP exam.

I have grown as a learner by sharing my thoughts with other people and connecting with people about the topics of what we are learning and review with my classmates.  I want to learn more about the gunpower and the Ottomans, Safavids, Mughal. I also want to learn more about what was happening during those time periods and what occurred but in order.

I want to stop socializing with other friends that do not have anything to do with what we are learning and I want to stay off my phone more often which I have improved in the past few weeks.

My Response

At the beginning of the year — almost 50 days ago — I wrote that I wanted to developed learners who

  • can learn anytime, anywhere
  • find problems they are interested in
  • connect to resources to solve their problems
  • curate their learning for accessibility
  • set goals and monitor progress
  • advocate for their needs
  • want to learn more

In Ezinne’s post, she highlights that she is setting goals for herself and wants to learn more about the topics we dipped our toes into.  While it is not checking off everything that I hope to develop in them, she is making progress and knows she is making progress.
